xxx A standard markup protocol for formatting text, originating with web documents and created in plain-text editors which can have very simple, clean user interfaces. Formats are easily transferable (by cut-&-paste) across media including web pages, text documents, posts in the meet.coop Forum, blogs, etc. This document is written with Markdown formatting.

When working in a web environment, and even when creating hard-copy documents, Markdown often can avoid the need to use over-featured word processors with complex user interfaces.
